Hello singles of northeast Louisiana!  School has started back and football season has kick-off!  I am ready for the cooler weather to roll in. Here are some of the events coming up in our Single Life Ministry at North Monroe Baptist Church.  

First, our Singles Labor Day Experience in Ridgecrest North Carolina is September 2 -6.  Please keep our singles group in your prayers as we travel to Ridgecrest over Labor Day weekend. God wants to reveal to us His plan in our lives.    

Second, Are you divorced? Separated? You don’t have to go through it alone.  Divorce Care helps you recover from the pain of separation and divorce.  Our Divorce Care begins on Wednesday, September 1 – December 1. Cost: $12 for workbook. Facilitator: Pam Plummer. Room: AE 202 at North Monroe Baptist Church. Call the Single Life Ministry office at 343-4730 for more information and reservations for this class can be made online or email Jay.

Third, our Single’s Ski Trip to Crested Butte, Colorado is now scheduled for February  10-15, 2011.  Trip cost is $400 for 3 days of skiing/$350 for 2 days of skiing/$300 for non-skiers.  This year we will travel over on a 56 passenger charter bus! A $100 deposit is due by this Sunday, August 29th, which confirms your spot.

       1^st deposit  of  $100 is past due  -  Sunday,  August 29^th

                                                        2^nd payment of $150 due  -  Sunday,  Sept. 26^th

                                                        3^rd payment of  $ 50  due  -  Sunday,  Oct.  24^{th  (Non-Skier’s final payment)}

                                                        4^th payment of  $100 due -   Sunday,  Nov. 21^{st  (Skier’s final payment)}

We now have 15 spots still open for this trip. You do not have to be a single to join us. It is not too late for you to register now online or call the church office.  Jay needs your $100 deposit ASAP if you plan on going.    

Single Life - our time of fellowship, worship and relevant Bible study for area singles has resumed. We are studying the book of James. We are on James chapter 3:1-9 (A Teacher’s Peril/Little But Powerful -The Tongue).  I hope you will come join us on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm for a great time of Bible Study with other single adults in room WC-202.

State-wide Single’s Retreat is January 7-8, 2011 with guest speaker Dave Edwards.  The location: Tall Timbers Baptist Conference Center located in central Louisiana between Woodworth and Forest Hill..  The Cost: $60 for the weekend Retreat. You can register online or in your life group class.

Singles & Missions Pastor

First, this is our last Single’s Sunday Night Bible Study of the summer. It meets at 6:00 pm on August 22nd at Gail Caraway’s Home. Our Discipleship Pastor, Bill Ashburn will be leading this Sunday evening Bible Study entitled,  ”How to Hide God’s Word in your Heart.”                                                                                         

Second, your remaining balance of $175 deposit is due now for our Singles Labor Day Experience in Ridgecrest North Carolina on September 2 -6. The reality about living boldly in an uncertain world requires an experience of resurgence where we are called to return to loving God and loving people. For those seeking God, the “return” speaks to what God created us to be. For believers, resurgence calls us to “return” from all the distractions that have taken us away from loving God and loving people.

Join hundreds of single adults of all ages as we experience resurgence—returning to loving God and loving people. During this weekend we will truly  experience Christ through . . .

First, Single Life – Meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in WC-202. We are studying in the book of James. The book of James is one of the most practical books in the whole Bible. Just in case you haven’t been to SL, what is it you may ask? It’s a time of fellowship, worship and relevant Bible study for area singles. Come try SL out! You can even bring a friend.  Tonight is our last night to meet until August 18th.  We are taking a break through summer.

Second, our Single’s Sunday Night Bible Study starts back at 6:00 pm on July 11th at Gail Caraway’s Home (2313 Whitney Dr. Monroe, La) You can pick up a topics schedule for this Bible Study in your Life Group on Sunday or click on the singles monthly newsletter on this webpage.  

Third, we just got back from our Single’s Mission Trip with the Global Maritime Ministry in Reserve, La.  We had a great trip. We are now making plans for next year’s Singles Mission Trip.
